The Office of Vocations for the Archdiocese of Hartford is committed to fostering quality, faithful, and lasting vocations to the diocesan priesthood. We also seek to support all the vocations in the Church--those called to consecrated life, marriage and family life, the permanent diaconate, and committed single life for the Kingdom.
From the Director
"The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few” (Mt 9:37). We need good priests to serve the Archdiocese of Hartford--might you be called? We would be delighted to accompany you on your discernment journey to discover God's plan for your life!
Q. Why does the Church need priests?
A. The Eucharist is the source and summit of the life of the Church. Without the Eucharist, there is no Church. We need priests to continue the work of the Apostles to teach, govern, and sanctify and by their word, deeds, and example invite all the world to experience the joy of the Gospel.
Creating a Culture of Vocations in the Archdiocese of Hartford
In conjunction with the Archdiocese of Hartford's ongoing pastoral planning process, the Office of Vocations has developed a Vocation Plan with the overall goal of creating a Culture of Vocations in our Archdiocese. While the entire Archdiocese works toward creating a culture of discipleship and evangelization, the Vocation Office will do its part to inspire priests, engage youth, reach out to parishes, and host events that focus on vocations and vocation awareness. This will be a long-term, ongoing process requiring collaboration with Archdiocesan Offices as well as Parishes.
